counting my blessing

My lump has been pronounced officially benign which is good news, although I wasn’t expecting bad. Still it’s very nice to know and I’m grateful to the NHS for their care and attention, even though in the end I was wasting their time. I’m a bit sorry for that really.

However I think I have something else now. I think I suffer from SADS. (Seasonal Affective Disorder Syndrome). I’m seriously pissed off with this season of rain and wind and consequent mud and general shite. It’s dark when I get up, dark when I leave work. Isn’t it supposed to be cold and crisply invigorating in winter? Yes definitely cold, crisp and snow are the order of the day.
Then you can wrap up warm and throw snowballs.
And sprinkle breadcrumbs on the pristine whiteness for seasonal robins.
And get to stay at home building snowpersons because these days it’s too dangerous for children (or is teachers? I forget) to attend school if it’s snowing.
And you can come in rosy cheeked and warm yourself by the real fire in the logburner drinking your free single malt.
However, this endless pissing precipitation has rendered my logs not just soggy but completely sodden, I don’t have a woodshed (there’s usually something nasty in them anyway isn’t there?) so the lovely log burner is extremely difficult (impossible) to light. I’m cold and damp and miserable and my whiskey hasn’t arrived. I’m having to console myself with dangerous wine.
Shouldn’t wet only be accompanied by warm, actually bloody HOT? A bath is nice, a pool when the outside air temperature is 40 degrees centigrade is better. Rain in England is not. Especially not everyday, every night, every f*cking minute. And sodding mud, don’t you hate it? I hate it. When the hell is this global warming supposed to kick in eh? Mediterranean climate my arse.
